Figure B.2. ARRISCAN Color Calibration.

Print Preview Logarithmic

This image set shows the results of the ARRISCAN calibration for Status M and Printing Density.

You can select the display of different images in the menu above. “Status M Aim“ and “Printing Density Aim“ show how the color samples would look if the scanner had exactly the characteristic of ISO Status M respectively SMPTE Printing Density. The image titled “Scanner” presents how the ARRISCAN “sees” the colors without transformation, which is different from both, Status M and Printing Density. The results of the calibration are displayed in “Status M Scanner“ and “Printing Density Scanner“.

An approximation of SMPTE Printing Density is to scan accordingly to Status M with a raised gamma in red. This is demonstrated in “Status M (High Red Gamma) Aim” and “Status M (High Red Gamma) Scanner”.

The images are displayed in log encoding, as a Cineon/DPX scan would look on a monitor without using a LUT. When the option “Print Preview” is turned on the same images processed with a 3D LUT are displayed. This gives an estimate of the colors appearing in a print made from the recorded data.
